I was doing this and the next two projects concurrently. I’m just waiting for all my parts to come rolling in. I decided to bondo the front mudguard because it would be “easier.” Holy, cow this was a lot of work. I bondo-ed the stella fender first, so the second batch went on like chunky peanut butter.
After a LOT of sanding…
If you notice, there was some pinholes in the above bondo job. They happen no matter how hard you try. So… there’s another $3 for Bondo brand glazing and spot putty…
Now that it looked like pink polka dots, but was smooth, it was ready for painting. First I primered it. Later, I went down to Fort Collins and had them mix me some touch-up paint. I’ll be doing it by brush, then wet sanding it smooth. I already tried this on the Stella as you will see in the next post.
It only has one coat so far (you have to wait 8 hours between coats), but you get the idea. I thought using bondo was so troublesome that I went and bought a body work hammer and dolly set for the stuff I have to do to the leg shield. That will also be a lot of work, but at least your not breathing carcinogens. Stupid bondo.
